From the website of the National Transport Authority: Transport is a term used to describe the time when the roads and railways of the UK are not used to travel, usually during the summer months.

The term “daylight” is used in many places in England and Wales to mean “on”.

“Night” is the time of day when it is dark, or when daylight is the main driver of travel, and “day” is a daytime-only mode of transport.
